The true extent of his crimes against humanity wasn't fully understood until the fall of the USSR when the secret soviet archives were made public.

An unknown but large number of those are attributable to Beria, many of them perhaps without the knowledge of Stalin. Beria gloated over how many he killed, and even boasts that he assassinated Stalin.
Who do you think are other terrible civilizations or peoples who could rival the German Nazi's of the 1930's/40's.
I'll go with the Vandals during 429 A.D.- 533 A.D. based in North Africa as they targeted a religious sect i.e. the Catholics just like the Nazi's (Jews) by torturing and killing priests and those whose practiced it and also they sacked Rome viciously in 455 A.D. and in fact they were so destructive and violent that their very name today is normally used to desribed destructive acts (Vandalism).
So who's your selection?
I say the Norsemen, they were pretty destructive in gaining settlements from the 8th to the 11th centuries.
I'm sick of hearing people slam Germany and Germans. You should first consider that the geograpical area now known as Germany has been hotly fought over during thousands of years of humanity. To continue to associate this area only with Hitler is simply short sighted.
Many a fantastic engineering improvement and other advances have come from Germany. The cohesiveness of the people, their health care, and many another aspect rival this so called country's high standards.
If another country was slammed as hard and long as it has been upon the Germans then the race card would be surely played. Yet the Germans push forward without having to stoop to such a level.
Be mindful of your mouth and respect other cultures and countries for what they offer. Choose to be positive.
I've been thinking about this Thread...and this is a good point...maybe a bit off topic...but Hitler and the Nazis are picked as the worst of the worst..and I suppose that's true...But it seems to me that the German people continue to bear the brunt of that horrible regime. Does anyone ever blame the Cambodians for what the Kamir Rouge did? The Turkish people for what was done to the Armenians... the Russian people for Stalin...and on and on throughout history?

The Germans are the 'lightning rod' for what happened just prior/during WW II for two reasons off the cuff........
#1: the Holocaust is still within living memory of many people.
#2: said atrocities were well documented---------unlike what happened in Stalin's gulags.

As is often the case with your generalizations, exactly the opposite is true. Germany ranks third in the world in the number of immigrants who have ENTERED the country:. Per capita, more than the USA.
