I've been thru search over kill, any help appreciated, this is old, leather, held together with leather threads or leather ribbons, the pocket on inside looks like that was done with an old sewing maching, I really can't tell. Any idea's, looks like it was some type of religious bag. I thought someone may recognize the the tooled leather hymn singers one is holding a hymn or prayer book. They are in a short dress garb like a old nightgown

Now if I can figure how to post the picture....

Could very well be a saddle bag or a hand tooled/stamped leather bag made in the 1920s through 1940s. Hand tooling and sewing leather was a popular home craft.

Hard to tell the age w/o actually seeing it- the stitching looks regular so i suspect it is not antique.

It looks like a "circuit riding" preachers saddlebag from the 1920's when some rural preachers still rode horse from one parish to another. Alot of mountain churches shared a preacher who would ride from one parish to another on horseback.

Thanks everyone, yes its hand tooled, it is held together with leather strips woven thru the holes on the side.

It does appear to be a preachers bag or circuit preacher as you mentioned.

Thanks again
