News, Earhart's Final Resting Place Believed Found.
Oct. 23, 2009 -- Legendary aviatrix Amelia Earhart mostly likely died on an uninhabited tropical island in the southwestern Pacific republic of Kiribati, according to researchers at The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR).

Abandoned on a desert island where temperatures often exceed 100 degrees, even in the shade, Earhart and Noonan likely eventually succumbed to any number of causes, including injury and infection, food poisoning from toxic fish, or simply dehydration.
The coconut crabs' great pincers would have done the rest...

I read one of the earlier bios. Always admired this lady.
I also admire Richard Gillespie's investigative work.
Media manipulation or not, I am looking forward to the new movie.

Maybe. The evidence being employed reminds me of the evidence which was used to identify the grave of the Sundance Kid in Bolivia. It was all very convincing until they dug up the bones, ran dna tests and discovered that it wasn't he.

Tighar has been theorizing Earhart ended up on Nikumaroro since the 80's, but they still haven't come up with really compelling evidence. None of this is new.  |

If I had faith in the collective intellect of humanity I'd see it as just about the ultimate insult to the intelligence. Unfortunately, said collective intellect is so low it's impossible to insult it--a fact without which the marketing industry would have to get a real job. |
