One of my favourite collections is my name collection. I have over 16 thousand different names from all over the world!!!

Does anyone here know of a strange name? Please?
One of my sons just finished 7th grade and received his yearbook, and I was commenting to my wife how many unusual names there were in it considering the school's size. Some of the parents have come from many different countries.
Do you collect the first names only?
Please let me know by number if any of these are new to your collection:

I collect hat pins... those pins people exchange during, like, the Olympics. I started collecting them way before it became popular. And my husband and I collect tacky snowglobes from places we vacation. The tackier the better!

I also seem to collect many gophers in my backyard. I'm not very good at getting rid of them and, for some unknown reason, they must think my backyard is some kinda gopher sanctuary.

Thanks for the names!!
I don't know how many that was(22?), but the marked ones are those I know I didn't have written down already. Now I have some more to add! The list keeps growing... I collect all names, both first- and surnames (I've had to make my own little system of markers to seperate first- from sur-, and male from female) so all names are welcomed!

Amazing how many names there are out there...How will I ever collect them all...?

Canibeyo, I had to google gophers first, but then I got it...But, aren't they cute? I've got moles in my garden, and they think the gras is a great place for hundreds of soil piles... They don't even stop during the winter!

I collect cars. Due to costs, I've gotten rid of most everything except 1. It's a 1974 Trans Am

Have tons of casette tapes on which I'd actually collect baseball play-by-play off the radio as I listened to games. Then put a bunch of the plays to appropiate songs and gave them as gifts. Took over two months just to go through & sort the audio snips for the first person's! (made him cry, too!)

When I was younger I used to collect bandannas. Now I'm getting interested in doing so again soon. I love wearing them sometimes, especially on a rainy day or a bad hair day too. So comforting, even if it matches my outfit I'm wearing for the day.

Willys jeeps, so far I've only got two, a brand new (frame up) 1951 CJ-3a, and a 1946 cj-2a, one of the very first civilian made after the war. Hit and miss engines, old tractors, anything old that runs on gas or diesel. I just love the simplicity of the old stuff, the creativity of the folks that developed machines without all the computer models used on just about everything now.

The thing I'm the best at collecting is debt.

Aside from that:

Books - Primarily texts and science books, not much of a fiction guy. I have kept every book I ever had to buy for a class and frequent the used book stores so I've got a pretty large collection going.

Fossils - I've recently thought about taking up fossil collecting. I only have a couple of fairly common ones - trilobites. I hope to be able to get more into it later on and maybe even look into the local paleontology society and go out on field trips and start digging.

Scientific Journals and Journal Articles - I have a subscription to several journals and have a very large collection of articles in pdf format on my computer. Some of them are some groundbreaking papers in various fields like Watson and Crick's paper on the structure of DNA, a paper by Franklin about his kite experiment, a paper by Newton about his telescope, the discovery of penicillin, several papers by famous psychologists and their theories like Milgram's papers on obedience and papers by Tolman and Thorndike. Along with those I also have just papers I've accumulated for presentations, seminar talks I've done, research and just for my own enjoyment.

Pretty soon I'll have my own small library going.
