I bought a book the other day on Ebay. It is called... Indian Artifacts of the Midwest. I just love it. It is so interesting. Like I said,I just hunt rocks on creeks and river banks to paint, and sometimes I find and pick up an interesting looking rock.

Okie
The stealing of these artifacts from creeks and river banks and even cropland that lay on private property is a real problem in Missouri and the professional arrowhead hunters are even sneakier than deer poachers. Like I said, a real problem. I mean, it is not right to wander onto someone else's land and remove something that might be worth a few hundred dollars without the landowners expressed written permission.

Not suggesting that you do that Okie, but there are many in my county and surrounds (N. central MO) that do just that. I'd have no problem asking the sheriff to charge them with tresspassing/stealing. YMMV.

Oh! I understand what your saying, lifelongMOgal. I sure wouldn't go on private property. I own 30 acres my-self. I would throw a fit, if I caught a stranger digging around on my place without my permision.
I just go down to creeks and rivers that have public access. I really am not sure if what I found is anything more than just, odd shaped rocks anyway.
My husband goes with me sometimes. One time he picked up a rock and I heard him snicker behind me. When I turned around and looked, he was holding up a little rock that looked like it was flipping me off.I rolled my eyes at him...but I kept it.
Okie
