Default Any LEGO addicts or fans on this forum?

There might not be a lot or maybe none at all on this forum but if somehow you do exist - it will be nice to know I am not the only Lego addict.

Parents and everybody else can also chip in as well - it is an open forum..so type away..!!!

...ight let me get back to cracking this GPS thing open to see what makes it tick..!!!

If you are not sure what Lego is you can check out this site:

I used to LOVE Legos when I was young. I still think they're the best toys for young minds -- so free-form.

What I don't like however is the recent trend of having very customized sets. When I was little, I only had the basic bricks (with a few exceptions, like wheel wells for building cars) -- if I wanted to make a helicopter, I made it with the basic pieces. Now it seems like there are all specialized pieces for making a helicopter -- yeah, it might look better, but it takes the creativity out of it, and plus you can't use those specialized parts for anything else.

But it's still better than most other toys out there. I'm probably going to get the big buckets of mixed pieces for our son when he's old enough. I may end up playing with them just as much as he will!

My son is a lego maniac. We just took a visit to disneyworld and the lego store there is awesome. The things they have built are incredible. He was so thrilled. We are lucky to be living in chicagoland where woodfield mall has a great lego store.
He does the customized sets, but usually ends up tearing them apart and making his own thing.
I am thinking of buying him some lego star wars sets for X-mas.
There is quite a lego community - check out lego.com. Clubs and everything. Can't find anything much in chicagoland. Although they did just have some brickexpo or something here, (we missed because we were out of town).
Yes, there are adults to continue lego-ing. And there are even model makers who use lego.

For the life of me I cant remember its name, but there is a mall along Michigan Avenue in Chicago that has HUGE Lego "sculptures" hanging from its ceilings. I think your son might enjoy taking a peek at those monsters!

^^^ Are you talking about the Lego Store? In the Northbridge Mall, on the top floor. It's pretty cool -- they have a Lego replica of the Magnificent Mile.

Yes, if thats the mall on Michigan Ave. They had the Lego art hanging from the ceiling in the mall, all over. One was a life-sized Jeep Wranger. Too cool.

^^^ Yes, it's kind of across from the Tribune Tower, somewhat next to the Marriott.
