Default Native American flute for beginner

I am interested in learning how to play a Native American flute. Any suggestions for a beginners first flute would be appreciated.

I was told to start with an A minor flute. I got mine on Amazon for 25 bucks. Good for beginners as well as advanced.

Hi
I was looking around hoping to find someone who was making NA style flutes.
I’ve made two in F# 4 , they sound a little different between the two but they are made from different woods and a slightly different bore size.
I have two more in the making. Another F#4 and a longer one that I was hoping would be a C4.
But the longer one just makes a high toot.
Changed the angle on the TSH , changed from a grove under the effigy to a grove in the flute. Still sounds the same.

Songinthewind, could you measure the TSH on your flute and look at the angle under the TSH (true sound hole) and let me know what the dimensions are and the approximate angle under the sound hole?

Thanks,
Aeroman

If I measured the correct one, it is 3 1/4 inches. Around is 3 inches.
I'm not on here that much so I'm sorry it took so long to answer.

Hi Songinthewind.
Mostly I wanted to know the size of that little rectangle in front of the bird (effigy).
It might be something close to a quarter inch wide.
But its not that important . I glued two more together today and they both sound ok.
I still have to finish making them round and cutting them to tune.
There kinda plain but I’ll take some photos of them tomorrow and post them.

Hope your enjoying your flute. I’m not very good at playing them myself.
But am having fun making them.

Later,
Cheers,
Aeroman

Bottom flute is finished.
Others in varying degrees.
May do some wood burning designs or inlay polished stones.
Top two are hemlock. Third one is white pine. And the finished one is cedar.
