Default Puzzles..... Does Anyone Do Them Anymore?

Does anyone enjoy putting jigsaw puzzles together anymore? Or is it a lost form of entertainment? Do you glue your puzzles after you complete them or do you just take them apart. Maybe you could post some pictures of the more challenging puzzles you have completed?

I liked to do them late at night (with some) wine when my husband was deployed if I couldn't sleep.

I don't have much time now but....

I've started my daughter on some chunky puzzles and plan on moving her up to some easy jigsaws next year. I think they are great for teaching problem solving, and a great wind-down activity before bedtime - snack - bath-pj's - book - bed routine...

I did a 5000 piece picture of the constellations. It' s about 4x6 feet. I couldn't bring myself to put it back in the box. My husband made a good frame and we glued it onto a piece of wallboard. It's hanging on the wall in the dining room.

I have gotten more conversation about that puzzle than I have about anything else in the house.

I had an 8000 piece that was a view of an art gallery. I got it about 1/3 done when I saw that all those naked male statues didn't have fig leaves. The darn thingies were amazing long. Truely awe inspiring!!

Did I want to finish the puzzle and hang it for all to see? Decided that it wouldn't suit everyone that visited. So, It was dumped. Oh, well, the colors weren't too good either.

Yeah, we still do puzzles occasionally.

Hubby was really into them for a few years, and the bigger the better, till finally he took up too much room.

I finally got him a round puzzle that was printed on both sides, one side was white, one side black. Took him 2 yrs to figure it out, then he quit puzzles after that, lol!

Just reading your question brought back memories of a quieter, more peaceful time. Oh! to not have phones ringing, emails of importance popping, etc. To be sitting at the dining room table or a card table in the den and doing a puzzle either with loved-ones, laughing and talking, or alone and in such silence....doing a puzzle alone can be a bit like meditating.

We do them occasionally, especially in bad weather. If we have it sitting out (on a large round coffee table) friends who drop by will add a few pieces. Have a nice puzzle board, bought from a company, which can be stored under the bed, with pieces in tact, when not using.

I love puzzles!! I have three bookcases full and more in my closet- I probably have close to three hundred total and I regularly 'cull' the collection for room. There's something about them that let's my mind wander- I do my best thinking while working on a good jigsaw. I have strong opinions about various companies and the quality of their puzzles.

The one thing I find annoying is how stores like Walmart/Kmart/Target all sell the same basic 'type' of puzzle. I am so sick of seeing bland country scenes!! Barnes and Nobles tends to have cool, unique puzzles but the collection doesn't change often. I end up having to order online from places like Bits and Pieces and the shipping is always pretty outrageous.
