1:18 Die-Cast Model Cars
Anyone into these? Some of the most expensive ones, such as on Exoto.com, are spectacular. (just FYI: http://www.exoto.com/s/1 the Alfetta 159 that comes up is amazing to look at! It almost looks like you're viewing a real car!)
The recently released Tipo 51 is also amazing, but then, @ approx. $795, it should be. There was also a 1:18 Ford GT Mk IV actually signed by Carroll Shelby that sold for a pittance of $4800 or so. Yeah; this is expensive, but then, what else yah gonna spend your vast disposable income on?
Staggering details! I have a Birdcage Maserati and an Auto Union racer, as well as a Chapparal Mk 4 (the big wing model). All very well detailed!
Anyone else?

I have about 250 of them and have been collecting them for about 20 years. Most of mine are the $12-$25range ones that you find in toy stores and hobby shops. None of mine are anywhere close to the price range that you mentioned!

Models aren't any fun unless you build them yourself!

I agree! I used to build a ton of them when I was a kit but then school and a full time job limited my time. But I still have a bunch of unbuilt ones that hopefully I can build one day.
