Ive played the cello, guitar, a little stint on drums. I miss playing the guitar the most. My son has a acoustic guitar that I pick on from time-to-time, but thats about it. If I ever picked up another instrument, Id want to learn the Native American flute, its hauntingly beautiful isnt it?

My husband used to be in a Rock and Roll band and played the drums. They would play the clubs in Hollywood (when he was younger).

I forgot to say, I can sing okay too but I don't really have the confidence to get up and sing in front of other people. I generally just save it for when I'm on my own as a way to just relax and let off a bit of steam.
It's great to see how many musical people we've got here on City-Data.

LionKing, you and me and Ted Nugent have one thing in common - We play guitar and love guns!
I have 3 electric guitars, a beautiful Charvel Strat with a Kahler tremolo, Charvel Randy Rhoads model, with a Kahler tremolo and a Dean ML, again with the Kahler tremolo. I also have a Yamaha accoustic.
I play rythym and lead, with a style influenced by Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, and George Lynch, and we played a few gigs in a couple of clubs here in Phoenix in the early to mid 1980's, while I was in college. Music wasn't really what I wanted to do in life, but it was fun and I still jam out, though not as much, I still like to plug in and crank up the Marshall and Crate stack (Marshall head and Crate speakers) whenever I get a chance.
Playing the flashy lead style like Eddie Van Halen is great, but I also like to put a lot of feeling into each note I play, just like George Lynch and Randy Rhoads.
I'll post a picture of my guitars soon.

Ah, a place for the musician. Tell me, are we inside or outside?
I was rewriting Beethoven at 7 years old. Started performing at 5. Played the first piano I saw at 3 1/2 - started training at 4 1/2. Played orchestras, symphonies, junior-symphonies, choirs, church, Rock-n-Roll, Blues, Country, CW, Jazz if I gotta ... been playing somewhere around 52 years! Played studios across the country, road-bands, house-bands, garage-bands. I go metal but really, except for Ozzie, that's a little after my tastes were already formulipated.
I'm not real active anymore. In fact, I'm in Oregon and my keys are in Ohio! Last gig was studio in '05. A Cover-Band in '03. Nashville studio in '00 and a few shows that year - then a few cover-bands during the '90s. Was married before that so wasn't very active at all in the 80's.
Good to see y'all on here and ready to go.
Okay folks: 1,4,5 in D ... anna 1, anna 2 ... (guitar players: that's the little chord on the 2nd & 3rd fret where you make your 3 fingers look like a diamond okay?)

Other Toys..
As promised, my 6-string guns that shoot musical notes
On the left is the Charvel Randy Rhoads model, on the right is my Dean ML

On the left is the Charvel Strat (my favorite guitar) and on the right is the Yamaha accoustic. That's the actual finish on the Charvel, it's not damaged.

dang Rockymtnr
sounds like should be taking lessons from you,I actually have thought about doing that lately,I was in a guitar store a little while ago and the guy that teaches there started playing Asturias,I would like to be able to play classical like that if only for my personal joy.
I can finger pick, but I need alot more improvement on it.I have been thinking about dabbing into slide also, which I know nothing about that right now.
Nice gats Mike,I too like the Floyd Rose, though I don't use it as much as I use to but I want it there when I want it.The sunburst strat in the photo is the only one I had for years,it's a early 70's that I had a humberbucker and FR installed on it(think EVH).That one strat, along with the Marshall JCM 800 was my rig I did most of my gigging and practicing through the years.
It was a simple setup, the strat,Marshall, crybaby wah and a digital delay, that's it and it sounded great. But now as times have gotten better I have piled on the gear, now I'm looking to do a bunch of covers in a band so I went with the Mesa Boogie amp because it has a awesome clean and metal crunch but another channel is set up for a classic rock sound.I went midi with a TC Gmajor because now Im using more effects than before and with it I can program it to change a effect and change the amp channel at the same time with one foot click, instead of tap dancing over a bunch of stomp boxs.
Im also playing alot more acoustic than before,I love that green Alvarez FD60.It sounds and plays like it costs alot more than it does. But anyway, was moving my gear into another room yesterday and photoed it.I was just goofing off with a toy guitar I bought on the border of Mexico lol.
I figuire maybe 5 or 6 more guitars and I'll have enough lol!

Wow, nice gear LionKing, and I like that collection of Strats you got, not to mention the 2 Les Pauls and the accoustics!
I hear you about the tap dancing bit with the effects! Right now I can only switch from clean to distortion on the Marshall, but I also have a DOD FX7 guitar effects processor and preamp. This thing has so many programmable settings for several combinations of distortion, delay, chorus, and flanger! But, you still have to do some "tap dancing" to get the sound you want and you can select the setting you like with just one press of the selector pedal. Sometimes I feel like I'm programming one of the computers at the office whenever I want to program a new setting!
The only thing I don't like about it is if it's not plugged into a power strip, you can't turn it off unless you unplug it! That's kinda lame because with all of the fancy stuff they give you with it, why didn't they just throw in a simple power switch!
I like the sound it has though, and if I wanted to, I can program it to give clean effects sound and use the Marshall's distortion.

I was listening to one of the neighbours play (or try to) guitar not long ago. Sounded like there was a hint of talent, I liked what he was doing, he definately had some knowledge of guitar. But when a person is jamming away and cant tell his guitar is out of tune, theres a problem there! We almost went next door just to ask him if he wanted to borrow my tuner, but had 2nd thoughts, some people get insulted when you offer a little constructive criticism. (Thats why we went through drumers, at first).
