Default Airsoft?

I was just in the gun enthusiast thread and something there made me think about starting a new thread about Airsoft, the guns and the sport. I have several Airsoft guns, but have never participated in the "Airsoft" sport. Basically, it's like paintball, except it's played with Airsoft guns instead of paintball guns. I think I would enjoy playing this game, as it's a real world "first person shooter" unlike video games. It looks like it would be a lot of fun.

Does anyone else here like to play Airsoft games? How many people do you have when you play? What scenarios do you play (i.e. Capture the Flag, Rescue the POW, etc.)? How do you tell who's on which team?

Besides the questions above, what else would you like to add about Airsoft?

A buddy of mine convinced me to go play airsoft with him. It was a blast. I have a new hobby! The terrain we played in was pretty tough though. Very hilly, lots of woods, and a creek. There was less than 10 on a team. We played several different games. Defending our base, rescuing a hostage, and one where you could not "respawn". It was simply, last man standing, with two teams.

The most airsoft I've played has been with my roommates in our house.

I won. Some glorious bank shots to finish them off.

I keep wanting to play, that and paintball... but Montana has a pretty small grouping of either.

My husband and I bought an M-16 (style) rifle (battery charged) and pistol (slide-charged) combination last night. The whole outfit cost $155 including pellets and a dart-game thingie.

We fooled around with it (the rifle is amazing, the pistol not so much) for a while last night.

Hubby asked me to shoot him so he could see how badly it hurt. I shot him from 30' with the pistol and it stung. I shot him from the same distance with the rifle and it drew blood and he jumped around like a lunatic lol.

I felt like I was in an episode of Jackass.

So we fiddled around with the stuff for a while and decided that the pellets all over the place are a pain in the butt, for $100 we could get a new 22 rifle to plink with so we're returning the airsoft lol...

There are biodegradable pellets for airsoft guns that will break down over time. I would imagine these would be better for the environment than the lead that would be left behind by the 22. Even though the 22 is cheap to shoot, Airsoft is cheaper still, in the long run. I have a fair collection of both Airsoft guns and other guns, and enjoy shooting the Airsoft guns when I can't get out to shoot the other guns. I can shoot the Airsoft guns at home, even indoors, if I want to. I can't say the same for my other guns.

How do you score when playing that game? Count welts?

With paintball you know when you hit someone... how does airsoft work in that regard?
