I was very disappointed because I went to a tattoo shop and asked the guy for opinions/drawings of what he thought would look good with it and he brought me over to the wall of normal tattoos. I want someone to draw it! So maybe you guys can help.
I second the pp that said go to another shop. Most artists I know hate doing flash.

Here's mine.

Because it's such a different style than your other tattoos, I have to ask about the story behind the smiley face.

Oooooh, that's beautiful!! I'm at work now (on a break, of course ), but I'll post pics of mine later... I too stopped counting, but I'm around 13 if you count the backpiece as one. Look forward to sharing them with you all, and viewing what I can't access now!

Go buy (or borrow) a bunch of tattoo magazines, and search their artist's directories & credits for someone in your area... they generally recommend only the GOOD artists, so it's a decent place to start. And yes, it's worth paying extra for quality, or you'll regret it later - trust me, I'm in the process of a large cover-up, which has already cost $800 & 6 hours of pain.

Thank you Gizmo! It turned out exactly as I wanted it, which made me a very happy girl. Mine was also a cover-up, by the way. I will probably get the cherry blossoms extended over my shoulder and add a butterfly in there somewhere with my son's initials in the wings.
To the pp, you could also google whatever you are looking for and go from there. My tattoo artist is amazing and definitely an artist. I found a pic on the web, but wanted the flowers to look a little more realistic so he sketched it out for me and then did quite a bit of free hand to the sparrow (which I wanted instead of the swallow).

This was the original pic I found on google.

The smilie was one that I used a lot on a Corvette board. I always thought that it was so cheerful & happy as it waved. At the time it seemed to reflect a great mix of people on a lively & stimulating board. Nowdays the thrill is gone from that particular place but I met a lot of good people there.
