Hello
Is anyone on here into large scale trains?
I have a nice outdoor layout and run a mix of LGB, USAT, Bachmann and Aristocraft trains.
If the weather ever turns to Spring the trains will start running more consistantly again.
It's a tremendous way to learn about true scale, digital controls, and electronic means of managing systems, all great skillsets.
Unfortunately G scale and model railroading seems to be a hobby with little growth or interest among the young, which is really too bad.
Fishing, for instance, has taken the bull by the horns and have kids special tournaments, free gear, and other promotions to get young kids "hooked" on a passtime that can last a lifetime.
I'd like to, once settled, do Montana Rail Link in large scale, modern, of both Vancouver Island and the continental divide in Montana, it's home state.
I've got a G-scale Garden Railroad layout on my property. I also maintain a YouTube page for our local Minnesota Garden Railway Society (MGRS) Club. Here are links to both:
thedwightguy, Trains are a great hobby for any age but sadly the cost of gettting into the large scale keeps many people from even starting in it. Fishing on the other hand is also a great past time and very cheap to get into. You should get going on your empire dreams and start with a small layout that you can expand apon. There are largescale forums you can join to ask questions.
Nice RR Doctor Z you have some serious mainline equipment there.
Here is a youtube link to one of my train videos from my layout. I have many more under Capecodtraintodd.

Thanks Todd! I have an Open House scheduled for this weekend so look for a new train video uploaded to my YouTube channel.

The first train in the vid is remarkably long -- how many cars did it have?
