I'm curious if I'm the only Transitfan here. What is a Transitfan? Well it's similar to a Railfan, except, we like Transit in general.

Many transitfans will go out and take pictures of every bus they see, or try to get the perfect picture of a bus. This is not my thing.
Others will write down the fleet number of every bus they've ever ridden on, or have seen out the window. Again, not my thing.
Others ride transit. See the routes, where they go, what personality they have (are they fast, slow, crowded, empty) even chat up the drivers. I am one of these. I like going places on transit, I've been to every transit system in the Greater Toronto Area

Anyway, I've posted on transitfan forums before, but I've always been curious how popular these things are out in the 'general public'

Well, I'm somewhat of a railfan, but not to the point of tracking every detail about every train. Usually, I just like to watch them go by, and once in a while, I like to ride them, especially if they are excursion trains. I particularly like steam trains, though there aren't many left these days.

Does your definition of transit include trolleys, interurbans, and cable cars?

Dang I havent been on a rail since we went to Japan, where its one of the most used means of transportation.

Oh, wait, I take that back. Some flights Ive taken to the midwest usually have layovers in Denver, where they use an underground rail to get from one end of the airport to the other. Does that count?

I guess I could say I'm a transit fan. I've got MORE than a passing interest in trucking and just about any sort of vehicle. I love riding Amtrak and enjoy watching passing trains, although I don't know one locomotive brand from another. As a kid, I loved riding those GM Fishbowls, and several kinds of Greyhound busses. (MAN, those double-decker 'Hounds were cool!) Unfortunately, the Dayton, OH transit sytem is poorly run, IMHO. So we don't ride it. (I would if it met my needs). Yes, if I had more free time, I'd like to go down to Cincinnati and ride around on their transit system. (Sigh...yet ANOTHER "retirement" project...)
