I just don't like playing something where the odds will always be against you. That's gambling in a casino. Now if they can create a game where the odds are on your side that would be another matter.
As for blackjack, indeed if I gamble I play blackjack because with little effort and following some rules of when to hit, stand, and double-down indeed one can approach house odds, and when counting cards actually exceed the odds (and that is a rare skill). But even then the odds over the house when card counting are so slim as not to be worthwhile, and it turns the game into work even if you have the mathematical skills, when it should be entertainment. The other guy mentioned a .5% increase over the house if you do it absolutely right. At $100 average bets, 50 rounds an hour, that equates to a winning of $50 per hour. The effort simply is not worth it to me.

You oughtta try poker where skill comes into play - at least if you have skill. But yeah, only chumps think they can beat chance over the long-run.
When Lincoln Park in RI had greyhound racing, I loved going to the Irish Pub, getting a table for two right at the window over the track, eating, drinking, and betting on the races.
Now my favorite is to hang out at one of the various video gaming bars, drink for $2 tips, and play deuces wild all night while listening to my metal music.
It is what it is. I don't love to gamble and I don't hate it either. There's a small Indian casino on the way up to South Beach that has some ridiculously loose dollar slots and I'll usually stop there on the way out to Grayland or Westport and make a quick few hundred or so.
Yes, last time I went there I went in with $100 and left $800 richer than when I arrived. Took about an hour. I probably would have stayed to make it an even $1000 but the cigarette smoke was giving me a splitting headache.
I'm sure the cashiers there hate me because of the stacks of payout slips I bring them. My strategy: insert bet (cash), play, if profit then cash out (slip), insert next bet, repeat. I usually come out ahead.
Does stock speculation count as gambling? If so then I am a yes.
