I had billing problems with the Mint that went on for almost a year. Every month, they screwed up, and every month, I had to fight with them to correct their mistakes. I eventually canceled my subscription and stopped buying from them altogether.
I guess that's what you get when you buy from the government...

Today most of my collection I sold because I knew that something happened to Me, that my children would have no idea what the coins were worth. I had my fun!! I have never had any problems buying from the Mint except when the 2007 3 coin Silver Eagle ProofSets came out, for a $100 a set. I told a friend of Mine about them and convinced him to buy 10 Sets. I tried to purchase 4 sets. My order was canceled, he received his sets and sold one set for $475. You do not have to have a subscription to purchase from the US Mint. Just a credit card. Thanks!!

I agree with Swagger. I have always told My friends, Never to buy Coins advertised on TV. Learning how to grade coins is a slow process. It takes a long time to be able to look at a coin and decide whether or not it is in Very Good Condition or Fine, etc.

The subscription was for the state quarters. Every time a new one came out, I got double billed. EVERY time. I finally gave up.
I'm happy buying my coins from dealers that care about their customers. Dealing with the Mint was like dealing with a ticked off DMV employee that didn't sleep the night before and was 15 minutes from the end of their shift. It was NOT pleasant. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere.

I can't say I collect it, but I inherited over $1600 worth of silver coins here about 5 years ago. Have yet to do anything with any of the coins. Everything from nickles to dollars dated from 1880's till the 1950's.

I have collected coins for years, and have many gold and silver coins. I have quite a few sets of coins from the early to middle 1900s with only the most rare varieties missing... I even found a 1960D silver quarter in a regular bank roll of $10 in quarters the other day! One of my favorite coins is the $20 gold MCMVII St. Gaudens in high relief. I inherited that coin from my late uncle. I have that one under lock and key!!!

I generally buy coins at a few coin shows, but I research market prices for the types of coins I am interested in via Internet and books.

I think the best coin design in history is the Morgan Silver Dollar. Those coins are quite collectable, and are generally a good value.

Yes, that would be fraudulent advertising to say the least.
MS= Mint State condition 60+ grade scale or higher
Fine= (Fine) 12-15 grade scale range.

So when you're looking to sell your bars and coins, what's the best way to turn them into cash fairly fast? Do you just go back to the coin shop where you bought them? Are they going to be able to pay you in cash for 100oz silver bars worth around $1,300 each? Do you sell your gold eagles one at a time?
