Hello friend and welcome to this forum. I live in Montana U.S.A. I've always been interested in China because my mother grew up in Beijing. My grandfather was a missionary dentist there. He worked in outlying villages where there wasn't any electricity then. He had an assistant "pedal" his dental drill !
My wife and I don't have money to travel because we are paying on a property. Good luck to you. You will make many friends on this forum I'm sure. Here is a photo of us having fun in little plastic boats.

So exciting to see your two sincere replays.especialy to Ricker, glad to hear that you have an interest in traveling to china.and Hope someday we can meet in someplace. On the other hand,I also look forward to have a chance to tour in USA.Hornestly ,your country is so attractive and beautiful.now I live in shanghai, maybe you know something about it,but no much leisure time to play outside because the pressure of the work and raising a family.Anyway,I will give myself twice annually to travel in some domestic resorts.By the way I have an opportunity to play the kayak or some like your plastic boat,it must be funny.

HI to all
These there days are the chinese traditional festival, called Tomb-sweeping day.so I have a rest at home.
Shanghai is the most rapdily developed city in china, especial the economic.Little influence affect here during the gloable economic recession. The worst thing is so hard to find a new job, especial for the new grauated students.
The recreations here include that Bars, playing card or chatting in tea houses, sport activities, touring out of the city...
You can ask more about shanghai,I will try my best to answer it.

Hi, Seanhhlu
I am hoping to travel to Shangai in August, but it will depend on the exact start date of a new job I am in the process of interviewing for.
Either way, nice to "meet" you!

Oh,so delighted to hear this.If you come to shanghai,I could be your free guide here.I will be glad to do it for you,but it also depends on the situation of my work at that period of time.Hope we can have a face-to-face meet in shanghai,if you are willing to do that.
Anyway,I hope you will successfully have the chance to travel here.

seanhhlu: Sure, I'd like for us to be friends. I used to have a very sweet Siamese cat that I named Shanghai. It sounds a lot better as a pet name than Bangkok.
You don't happen to be an amateur radio operator, do you? I haven't managed to get China logged yet.

I saw Shanghai in 1993 on a tour and loved the city. I bet that it has changed a lot since then. My favorites interests in China would be the history of the city, arts, music and hand crafts and of course the parks.
My son has his own company in Beijing and will be coming to Shanghai for a year for work. I retired recently and want to visit him after we buy our new home and settle down. I forgot that the world expo will be in 2010. Sounds like a great time to see China. My husband's roots are in the neighborhood of Tsingdao, so we would like to see both at the same time. Have you ever been there. We are now living in Texas, USA.
