I grew up showing. I spent 14 years on the big circuit. These days I get to the barn once a week. My husband is not horsey and is extremely jealous of my horse. When he is out of town I go every day.
The pink started as kind of a joke and all of my friends are playing along. I even have a pink bridle (leather with Swavorski crystals).
The girl is one of our college kids who was thinking we needed to find a parade to show off our fancy new tack.
Racelady, love the pink bridle!!! I go to the barn every day, have too, I am the owner/manager! Used to be in the boarding business, but I have scaled way back and these days it is just my horses and 1 boarder who is a very close freind. My husband enjoys riding, but not as much as I do. I try to trailer out once a week in the summer, and as much as time allows in the cooler months. My trail horse is a very spoiled 16.1 Fox Trotter.
I have a draft mix and a red dun quarter horse mare. Due to the type of job and other obligations, I have only shown a few times. But would like to do more. I love trail riding but rarely get the chance. The draft mix is 23yrs. the mare is 3 yrs old
Used to be! Had a 20+ acre horse farm with indoor ring in Connecticut years ago and did the whole hunter/jumper routine, teaching adults and children and handicapped, training, a little bit of breeding, and showing just about every weekend on the local circuit. Wonderful memories!
I had a 16 hand grade gelding for 24 years. He died in Jan at age28. We did some trail riding, lots of side-of-highway miles. He never liked the show arena. My husband isn't horsey, so I couldn't do nearly what I would have liked. About 4 years ago I bought 2 standard donkeys to keep Bo company. I still enjoy working with them, and have trained the momma to pull a cart. Both can be ridden by children, but too small for adults. I plan to get another horse someday, when my lifestyle slows down. Riding is still my #1 favorite thing to do!
