Default Anyone play the Cello???

I am going to buy my child a cello and would like input on what to buy. She will need a 1/2 size or 3/4....she measures inbetween but I'd like to get a 3/4 so it fits longer. Also I don't really want to spend any more than $500 if I don't have to. What are some good brands? Brands not recommended? Here are some links to websites that I'm looking into:
Cellos including, Acoustic and Electric
Cecilio String Instruments Collection - Inexpensive cello for beginners, students, retirees....etc

ANy of these sound better than the others? I would like to at least get her a 300 or better.
Thanks! ....we already looked into renting and would rather just purchase!

You need to find a music store that sells or rents cello's for the Suzuki program if you are not already in one. children grow at different speeds, the program I am familiar with is a parent rents to buy a stringed instrument which can take up to several years at a modest price to pay for. every few months or so the child is fitted for the next size up. If the child stays with the program long enough they own a full sized instrument. Cheap Instruments have such a distinctive sound that they will stand out in an orchestra recital.I heard of a string teacher who rosened a kids bow with a bar of soap before a concert to silence it .
