Default Not a horder - but

Actually I have been pretty good about getting rid of things we no longer use. But - I have a kitchen set with tin table top - that extends and 5 wooden chairs that match the legs of the table. It belonged to my dad's parents and I can remember eating at it in their kitchen. It has 1938 stamped on the bottom of the chairs. This will be hard for me to part with- for sentimental reasons - but If I do I'm wondering how much it might be worth if I decide to sell in stead of donate. I have been using this set in my dining room but it is way past time to pick out a set I would love in there.

Start searching the internet now for similar furniture items to familiarize yourself with the stylistic descriptions. Then conduct a more detailed search of the same type of furniture. Check Kovel's, eBay, and other antique auctions sites. I you have the opportunity and/or the funds have a professional appraisal done. The market value of such items is driven by the level of craftsmanship, the age, the scarcity and the popularity. Your sentimentality is an additional value. I've had to liquidate my dear sister's estate. One never knows the value of an item until one researches it. Sometimes it's a welcome surprise. Good luck.
