AF6BK checking in!

I don't have a lot of real estate, so I'm using an Icom 2340H with a 2m/440 J-pole out on the balcony. The upside to that is that I'm 7 stories up so I basically have an 85 ft. high antenna. I can get into pretty much any local repeater with no sweat.

I'll be checking into this thread frequently. Glad I'm not the only geek!

Today on my Yaesu FT-950 and copper wire dipole on my patio fed by ladderline and 100 watts, on 17 meters, QSO's with Ireland, The Netherlands Antillies, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Mexico, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and California. A great time on a cloudy, cold, Rocky Mountain winter day. It's amazing what a chunk of wire stapled to a patio railing can do!

Bump. I've gotten a Japanese ham operator twice on 15 meters during the past week or so with my indoor antenna. Things are starting to look up! That's great, , jim9251.

Hi there, AJ4VS! I enjoy ham operating a lot here in Ft Worth. Maybe I'll hear you on the bands.

There is a contest this weekend. I don't do contesting because I only run 100 watts to a dipole, but managed to work countries today and places I never even heard of. Fun to work Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Ecuador, Aruba, Galapagos Islands, Cuba...and lots and lots of states here in the US.

One French station was calling cq over and over on 20 meters today. I replied and he copied me, thanked me for the contact. AMAZING! Then here comes the pileup. I guess I heard him first, which was a real treat.

When I grew tired of the contesting, I have a nice QSO with a Ham in Mississippi on 17 meters.

Even 10 meters was great today with QSO's from Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina.

Ham Radio is fun!

Great day! I only have indoor antennas and still managed to snag Germany, France and Northern Ireland.

No doubt about it, I need to get my six band vertical up so I can operate on something besides 10 meters!
Then I need to get a better HF rig!
someday...

Which HF rig do you have? As I see it, it's mostly up to the ionosphere.

I have a Yaesu FT-101ZD, which is a very nice radio, except for the frequency drift problem. When I set it at 28.400, it will drift up to .401, then .402 and so forth, so I bring it back, then after a few corrections it will suddenly drop to .390 something!
VERY annoying!
Transmit and recieve are fine, power output is good, everything is great except for holding frequency!
