Default Any kite surfers out there?

Kite surfing has been something that has always interested me to get into. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried it out and if it is very expensive to get into it and if it is really hard to do? Is it something you can just pick up and do or do you need practice and people helping you out generally?

Not me. I have not lived near water since I moved from Nigeria.

Of course there is a sizable initial cost. But how "easy" it is to pick up will depend largely on (pardon the pun) how large YOU are, and how athletically fit you are. I have been an avid sailboarder (not kite surfer) for many years, and had no basic knowledge of sailing when I began, which was the first thing I needed to learn - right after figuring out how to keep from falling in the water every time I tried!
