Apparently, San Jose wasn't all that confident about Nittymaki being their #1 goalie, so they go out and sign Niemi from Chicago; I suspect that Niemi will get a few more starts than Nittymaki, but the situation is probably quite fluid..
Seems like that was an insanely short offseason, but I guess that happens when your squad wins Lord Stanleys Cup.

Who else wants to make hockey a year-round sport? I've seen enough of balls being moved around now it's time for the real sport.

I felt the same way after 2006. This is the most excited I've been for a new NHL season since before 06-07.

Something I found yesterday via google, there is an Australian Hockey League. Don't know much about it but it looks like one can stream games online, it is played from April to August. Worth a mention I guess. Melbourne's team won the championship this year.
