Well, thats it, hockey is officially over . How upsetting, good news is we only have a few short months before it starts back up. This thread will be a place to talk about your teams off season, holes they need to fill, contracts they need to extend/dump and you general feeling about the direction your team is heading. I'll start

Chicago Blackhawks

The cup is back in Chicago for the first time since 1961, and it is a great feeling. The first cup I have been alive for (by a lot ). Overall we are set in many skill positions and have a lot of players locked up. The following key players are locked up for at least three more years:

Toews
Kane
Campbell
Keith
Hossa
Bolland

Sharp and Versteeg are locked up for two more years, Sopel, Seabrook and Buff are at the very least locked up for next year.

The biggest free agents we have going into this off season are Niemi and Andrew Ladd. I feel like the Hawks are going to do just about anything to keep Niemi, but I could be wrong. They do not have much cap room to work with.

The biggest on the Hawks roster right now is Cristobal Huet, and we have 5.6 million on the books to him each of the next two seasons. Annoying, I don't think anyone will take that contract off our hands.

Obviously will all that said you still have to love the long-term outlook if you are a Hawks fan, even with a ? at the goalie position. A young core, a newly energized fanbase, and **gasp** committed ownership. It's no strech to say they should be in the top 3 spots in the WC next year, but once the playoffs start, their potential goalie problems could haunt them.

Isles fan.

Holes: everywhere
Cap Room: PLenty of space, but owner tired of losing money
Biggest question regarding team: where will they relocate to: Queens, Brooklyn, Kansas City or Canada?

General Direction team is headed: West

I would say Madden,Ladd, Burish and Johnsson will be gone. I think they will resign Eager and Fraser. Btw-Niemi is restricted and arbitration eligible.

There's alot of talk here in Philly about trading for a goalie. Carter, Gagne and Briere's names are being mentioned. Gagne and Briere have no-trade clauses but they may be waive it if a name is willing to cough up more money. Of the three I'd keep Briere and shop the other two. Carter skated around aimlessly in the Finals and Gagne cooled off as well after playing great against the Canadians. Boucher is under contract and the Flyers may try to sneak him past waivers and send him to the minors. This would leave Leighton as the back up and the new goalie as the starter. They also need a sixth defensemen.

I hope they don't trade away draft picks. Kimonnen and Pronger are both 35 and their legs can't hold out much longer.

I'd also like to see them go after a winger that's not afraid to battle along the boards and park himself in front of the net.

^^Agree Carter and Gagne were near invisible in the Final. You NEED a goaltender, he let in too many soft goals.

Too many shortside goals. Carter and Gagne try to be finesse players and that doesn't work in Flyer hockey. I'm also hearing that they may be shopping JVR, claiming he's not physical enough. I know he doesn't like to backcheck.

Stars fan.

I wonder if Modano is gonna return for another season, and curious where will Turco end up. And who will be Lehtonen's backup?

We're also in dire need of the good defense.

Sabres fan here and rumor has it Tim Connolly and/ or Drew Stafford could be bait for a trade for Kaberle.... PLEASE!!!! Trade Connolly for him!!! Connolly is a huge roller coaster!!! everytime he gets hurt it takes him like 2 weeks to play decent again. Not 2 weeks to heal but 2 weeks to play and skate and not screw up

Modanos last game in Minneapolis he looked to take 'the final skate'. There is a thread about it. I think he's going to the broadcast/owners booth.

This was from his last home game
Nice tribute to Modano last night
