The Sharks did not play the Pens last year.
How is that? It was Sharks 3rd year as a franchise. First time in playoffs.

It won't matter, as the Sharks will be sunk tonight....Conference final will be Detroit vs Vancouver, and Detroit is all that stands between the Canucks and the Stanley Cup. Beating the east will be a piece of cake.

Sanspeur, I'm looking forward to that Canucks/Wings series, although I admit there ain't no fat lady singing to the Sharks just yet, the Wings definitely have the momentum at this point. I agree, whoever wins the West will take home the Cup. This Sharks/Wings series has been one of the best since our old rivalry with the Avs when they were still good. Can't say as I miss Claude Lemieux, though. Turtle.

How do you think the Canucks crowd will react to Bertuzzi?

Greatest upset series in NHL history has to be 1982 LA Kings over Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers. A mediocre team upends arguably one of the greatest teams in history. Although the Sharks over Wings in 94 does rank up there. Canadiens over Caps last year I think is the widest as far as seed ranking between the teams, #16 over #1.

Default Great game 7

Fantastic end to a fantastic series. The Datsyuk goal was just too sick for words, Wings played their hearts out and should be very proud even though they came up on the short end tonight.

Congrats Sharks.

Agreed...One of the best series I've seen. I really thought that Detroit would win it, but for being so shorthanded up front they might have, but the Sharks deserved the win.

Lol. Sharks own the Wings officially now!

Marleau scores the winning goal again and Neimi came up huge!

Sharks over Wings was the greatest because that was Sharks first playoff series ever. Only 3rd year in existence. 8th seed vs 1st seed.

Sharks own the Wings now in the playoffs! back to back years.

Neimi is just a better goalie then Howard and Neimi is just breaking into the pros.

San Jose is going crazy and partying.

Good job, FOOLS!

Now the only team that's left to root against is the Bruins.

That was a very good series. In retrospect, spotting you Sharks three games and then trying to sweep may not have been the best plan, lol. Good luck against the Nucks.

Texas, I still think the Kings over the Oilers was a better upset. The Oilers in that time period with Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Coffey, and Fuhr in net were a powerhouse that had never been seen before or since. The Wings in 93-94 were good, but were just coming off the era where we called them the Dead Things, and had not yet hit their stride. So that was a good but very new team over a good but not great team.
