East
NYR v. OTT- OTT has given NYR a challenge in each meeting this season. I cannot see NYR losing their series, but it will go down to the wire. NYR in 7.

Bos v. WSH- WSH gave Bos trouble without Backstrom, who is now back. I see upset all over this series. WSH in 7.

FLA v. NJ- NJ is the better team and heading into the playoffs as a hotter team than FLA. NJ in 5.

Pit v. Philly- Pit is the favorite, which I understand because they are slightly better than Philly. However, I am going with Philly in this epic match up which is one hell of a way to kick off the playoffs. Philly in 7.

West
Van v. LA- I like Van in this series. LA has the talent to upset Van, but they have been up and down throughout the season. Van in 6.

STL v. SJ- I am going SJ in this series. Talent wise these teams are even. I am giving the edge to the overall experience SJ has in the playoffs. SJ in 7.

PHX v. Chi- Both teams are coming in hot, but I have to go with my hometown Hawks. Smith will really have to stand on his head to "upset" the Hawks and I don't see that happening. Chi in 6.

NSH v. Det- I am going with Nashville to win this series. The Preds have been tough to play against with their defensive system and excellent goalie the past few years. Now they have the talent to really compete and great special teams. NSH in 6.
My first round in the East was fairly good (NYR in 7, WSH in 7, NJ in 5 (FLA really surpised me, NJ in 7), PHI in 7 (Pit also surprised me, but in a bad way, PHI in 6) .

The West was another story. I got Van-LA & PHX-Chi right with the # of games, but had the wrong teams. LA ended up playing solid hockey and Smith stood on his head for PHX. The STL-SJ series was a terrible prediction. SJ looked like lame ducks. NSH was the only series I chose the wnning team, but was off by one game.

Round 2 Predictions:
NYR v. WAS- NYR has to play another mediocre team that plays with a lot of heart. I have them winning, but it is going to take everything they have. NYR in 7.

Phi v. NJ- Philly is playing a NJ team that can play defense. I like Philly, but it is going to be a lot closer games with much tighter checking games. Philly in 6.

STL v. LA- LA owned STL in the regular season, and I see it continuing in the post-season. LA in 6.

PHX v. NSH- The two best goalies in the league face-off. I give the edge to NSH because of better special teams. NSH in 6.

Indeed, great series. No lie when I say that I called Ward would get the game winner.

Good points....but ignorance and prejudice by northern young people (since it was Twitter comments) surprises me. The referenced article was a very good one, newsworthy, not a media person looking for select tidbits. The comments by players were good to hear.

I am really surprised people think the Kings will beat the Blues. That is the only series I would put money on. I can't wait to watch all these games.

LA was 3-1 against STL in the regular season and outscored them 9-3 in the games (though 3 of the games were one goal difference) and handled the mighty Canucks. I think LA can get past STL.

It will be a defensive battle for sure! I hope some offensive firepower can step up for L.A.

I picked L.A. in 7

The Blues have more depth and have been playing amazing. When they shoot, they hit the goal, unlike say...New Jersey. It only took one man to cause the Kings to lose 2 games. If the Blues lose this series, then they don't want it bad enough.

I hope the Devils-Flyers don't keep going into overtimes. I can't root against Marty, but I don't see my boys winning this series. Philly deserves the cup...they are giving 150%. I love Briere!
