NHL offseason discussion
The 3 stories I will be paying the most attention to:
1. Will the Red Wings sign Parise and Suter?
2. Coyotes fiasco
3. NHL takeover in Jersey?

Well, here's some really important news :

Rob Zombie to write/direct a Flyers film called 'Broad Street Bullies'
Rob Zombie will write, direct and produce “Broad Street Bullies,” a film about the mid-1970's Stanley Cup winning Flyers, reports Deadline.com.
Zombie, the former White Zombie musician who became a successful horror filmmaker with “House Of 1000 Corpses” and “Halloween,” tells the website that he has the rights to the Flyers story and the full support of the Flyers organization.

Well, the Flyers have been busy ... Bummed that JVR has been traded, but it'll be cool to have Braydon and Luke Schenn on the same team, and the Flyers need help on defense.

Adam Oates named head coach of The Washington Capitals today then hours later to the NHL Hall Of Fame. Quite a day for him.
The announcement was a surprise to me but Oates is highly regarded and respected. I look for more offense this coming season. It appears the defense first under Dale Hunter is going to be dismantled. Not sure if that is a going to be a good thing. Now there will be no excuse for Ovechkin not to put up at least a 100 point season next season.
However, my money says he won't...

I really want to know why they chose Sundin over Shanahan? He has more Cup prints than all four of the chosen combined. He is one of the best of all time, right up there with Sakic. I get the choice of Oates and Bure. They were overdue.

Jim Rutherford actually took a risk and made a big move (acquiring Jordan Staal for Brandon Sutter). Guess it finally hit him that sitting back playing it safe doesn't do anything.

Nail Yakopov (sp?) - really like his personality and smile on the interviews. Seems to really love being a hockey player. And it helps him identify with fans here because his English is pretty good. Proves that not all Russian hockey players are robots!
