(Almost) everything is irrelevant until the post season...if you go in hot. Nashville proved that last season as an 8 seed.

Got to have a hot goalie going in though, that is almost a must.

Or don't forget the LA Kings of 2011-12 as well! I am not a Kings fan but I thought that was fun watching an 8th seed win the Stanley Cup!

Indeed! It is instances like this that make the Stanley Cup Playoffs very intriguing to watch! Hopefully the more optimistic among us members of the Team of 18,000 are proven right in the coming months, and that the Wild rise to the occasion and go deep into "The Second Season"!

The NHL has far more parity among all its teams than the NBA...by far.

I think things are okay right now...we're not a favorite, but at the end of the day, I've seen enough NHL over the years to know you have to have a hot goalie in the playoffs or you aren't going to go far.

And if the other things are clicking, we can do some things.

Parity because Gary Bettmans NHL rewards teams for losing.

The Wild currently have the 8th seed, but are only 4 points out of the 4th spot in the conference. Part of me is obviously happy about that, but another part can’t help but scoff at the ridiculousness of the system. I remember a time when a team had to work a little harder to climb the ladder like that.

Anyway, they’ve been playing awesome at home. They find a way to start notching some points on the road and this could get real good, real fast.

Indeed! We just have to hope/pray Dubnyk and Stalock are in tip top shape come spring so the other players can do their thing! Anyway, Go Wild Go!

Though not a perfect system by any means, I do prefer having playoff surprises that can stem from the absurdness of the NHL's setup than already knowing off-the-bat which teams will make the finals at the start of the season - which is the case in the NBA like 90% of the time. Where's the fun in that?

True that about the Wild's record on the road! They can't expect to shoot for a higher seed, let alone win playoff series if they can't increase their winning percentage on the road...

It's very enjoyable to watch the Blackhawks frolic about at the bottom of the standings.

Every time you think this team is ready to make a leap they come out and lay a king sized egg like in Pittsburgh the other night. Those are the games they need to show they can win.....against decent teams on the road. Yes, Pittsburgh is down a bit compared to last year, but they're still defending Cup champs and there's no excuse not to be up for that game. It shows a lack of competitive desire and preparation.

Good teams find a way to win on the road. Period.

Indeed! Now that the All-Star Weekend is over, let's see what the Wild are truly made of! Only time will tell who is proven right!
