Read article (sorry for not linking) that said one of the Wild big issues is that their top two centers are only about 7th best in the Western conference. Almost keeps them in the lower half of playoff teams.

quite a bit of upside that is reasonable to expect considering that after Koivu (31) the next 3 are all 23 or younger, Granlund (22), Haula (23) and Coyle (22).

I think Haula may be pretty good, not sold on Granlund. I always cringe when they look at the Fin/Swe/Nor elite leagues for forwards. Good skaters but lack grit IMHO.

Granlund has definitely added some grit to his game. He's not 2012-13 softie Granlund any more. Not to mention Koivu is a pretty gritty player..

I've been thinking that Coyle is overrated. He just isn't a point producer even when he's consistently with Koivu, Parise, Pominville, etc. He's better off in a checking line role.

If my username is confusing you, I'm originally from Rochester, MN, and I moved to NY after high school

Wild need to change their name. How could they pass up a name like Muskies? Hell I think the Mosquitoes would have been a pretty cool name.

The Wild have really stepped up puck movement in their two games thus far. If they keep it up they may be one of the more interesting teams to watch this year. Haven't been able to say that in the past with the trap style they used to play.

Totally different team; almost unrecognizable.

It is only two games in and people still have questions about Kuemper but I got good vibes after the home opener/bloodbath against the Avs and following it up with a gutsy 3-0 defeat at their home opener.

If Dumba steps up his game and Brodin a touch more, after watching Spurgeon, we could be in the WCF like I'm hoping for this year. Heck might even get to the SCF.

Not only are we winning but we're pretty dominant against most teams this year. Should at least be 8-2, but we'll have to settle for 7-3 at this point.

As long as this team stays injury free (cross fingers) the way they are playing I'd say they are a threat for the Western Conference finals.
