Mrazek kept it from being a rout.....I agree...going to be tough...don't think they will win tomorrow night..hate to be Debbie Detroit Downer....

That's that. They lost the series in Game 4. Game 5's win just put off the inevitable.

The D needs to be overhauled. Z has lost a step or two. No more signing middle aged rentals. I think Howard should be dangled as trade bait in the offseason and, most important to the future success of Detroit, it's time to move away from Holland. I think he's most to blame for the state of this team.

These are strange days to be a Detroit Red Wings fans. How many people would have believed one year ago that the Lions would be better in their respective league than the Red Wings? How the mighty have fallen. While there may not be much for us to be happy about we are on the cusp of the anniversary of an incident that will forever be associated with one of the greatest rivalries in NHL history.

March 26, 2017 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Blood Game. On March 26, 1997 revenge was had upon the Colorado Avalanche and Claude Lemieux for a vicious hit on Kris Draper nearly one year before and one of the most infamous brawls went down on the ice at The Joe.

Draper penned an amazing piece for The Player's Tribune sharing his thoughts about the hit he took, the revenge and what playing in Detroit meant to him. Definitely worth a read.

There Will Be Blood by Kris Draper

The final game at The Joe has been played. Wings cap a disappointing season with a win and Riley Sheahan scores his first goal since 4/9/2016 and then adds his second goal of the season which would be the final goal scored at The Joe. Much to the disappointment of PETA and to the glee of many (myself included) the octopi rained on the ice.

Currently watching the closing ceremony celebration for The Joe. So many for greats on the ice and loved ones representing those we've lost.

I had to watch the ceremony on youtube because I couldn't see it last night. I followed the game on Twitter. It was like I was there, reading fans comments throughout the game. The ceremony was a fitting end to the Joe. 35 Octopi was what news story said. Looking forward to a new phase beginning this fall lat Little Caesers Arena! That would include more octopus!.... and hopefully, more Cups!

You guys have nothing to be ashamed off! 25 straight seasons in the NHL playoffs (with 4 Stanley Cup titles as well as 2 more SCF appearances on top of that to boot)! I wish you guys the best in the rebuild process! Don't worry, you'd probably be back in the mix much sooner than you think! Sincerely, a Wild fan!
