My beloved Hurricanes have decided to retire the jerseys they've used for the last 15 years since they relocated from Hartford. Have a look at their new kit and discuss - I think the reaction has been a little mixed. I wasn't wild about them at first, but I find them growing on me.

First the home uniform:

And the away jerseys:

Their all-black alternates will remain unchanged - so what do you think of the new look?

They don't appear much different.

Here's a current home jersey for comparison. Offhand:

1) Silver and black completely removed from color scheme of new homes, reduced on aways
2) Laces added to new home jerseys
3) Font changed for nameplates and numbers (no more "NASCAR font")
4) Storm flags removed from base of jersey
5) Secondary logo (stick and storm flag over triangle) removed from shoulders
6) Shoulder piping removed
7) Crest reduced in size (official number is it's 15% smaller)
8) Gloves and pants simplified (gloves are now all red, pants have had black strip removed from cuff and Hurricane logo removed from right leg)
9) Home and away are now no longer a straight palate swap
10) Shoulder yoke on away (no shoulder yoke on the jerseys being retired)
11) Different striping scheme (both between the new home and away and from the old jerseys)

They're much nicer than the old ones, which in my opinion, were pretty ugly.

While similar, I think the new uniforms are a fresh look. Crisp and clean. Glad they did not axe the black 3rd jersey. Love that one.

A big improvement .... although I really like the secondary logo of the stick with the hurricane flags and would have liked to have seen that stay on in some fashion

That will still be the crest on the third jersey, at least.

That's a lotta red! If that doesn't intimidate opponents, I don't know what will.
