I honestly don't think that would be a good idea at all. Give them an AHL team and they can also keep the Spitfires (or whatever their Junior team is named). It's bad enough that Winnipeg got a team again because it's so cold there (coldest metro over 700K in the world) it's already difficult to get elite players to go there.

How is being too cold a bad thing for hosting an NHL team? Sure Wnnipeg might be towards the bottom as a free agent draw all things being equal, but it's a capped league, the players will go with the top bidder or whoever can win a championship 9 times out of 10. There's no reason they can't win with a GM that can draft and make sound moves in free agency.
I know it's still the honeymoon, but they're getting the highest ticket prices in the entire league right now. It's pretty clear there are more hockey fans in that 700,000 than there are in other metros 4x their size.
Well Quebec city is spending $400 Million to Build a NHL Arena..So I would assume they would be getting a NHL team in 2015-1016 when it is complete..I expect the team that moves there will be re-named back to the Nordiques Name & Franchise...
The realization of the NHL coming back to Quebec City took a big step forward on Sunday when Mayor Regis Labeaumeannounced plans for a $400 million, 18,000-seat arena that will begin construction in September and be ready by September 2015. Labeaume said the arena would be comparable to that of CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Also in attendance was Pierre-Karl Peladeau, president and CEO of media conglomerate Quebecor who has expressed interest in buying an NHL team should one come available. Quebecor was also granted naming rights to the soon-to-be built arena and will manage the facility.

As long as the Canadian dollar stays strong against the US dollar, cities like Quebec and Winnipeg are lucrative for the NHL. Back in the 80s or 90s when it dropped to 65-70 Canadian cents to the US dollar, it was hard to keep franchises in smaller Canadian markets profitable. All the same, I'd look forward to the return of the Nordiques, I liked them when I was a kid in the late 80s/early 90s.
