Budaj is definitely good, but we still can't score. No goals in the last 2 games.

Kopi from Gilbert and Toffoli tied it at 1 at 13:40 and Cam Atkinson from Sam Gagner and Alexander Wennberg on the power play put the Jackets up 2-1 at 14:51, while Doughty from Shore and Brown at 14:03 in the 3rd forced overtime, with Martinez from Pearson and Toffoli 1:14 in the overtime ended it. Martinez was the first star, Kopi was the 2nd star, and Atkinson was the 3rd star, each picked up 1 point on 1 goal.

Predators 2 @ Kings 3 (overtime).

Craig Smith from Mike Ribeiro and Viktor Arvidsson at 10:56 put the Preds up 1-0 in the 2nd, Muzzin from Martinez and Dowd at 15:59 tied the game at 1-1 after 2 with Arvidsson scoring unassisted shorthanded 1 minute into the 3rd and Toffoli from Dowd and Martinez 41 seconds later forced overtime, and Carter from Kopi and Doughty with 29 seconds to play in OT ended the game. Budaj stopped 24 of 26 picking up the win, while Pekka Rinne saved 42 of 45 and the loss. Martinez was the first star and Dowd was the 3rd star, each recorded 2 points on 2 assists and Arvidsson was the 2nd star also recording 2 points on 1 goal and 1 assist.

Kings 0 @ Blues 1.

Only goal of the game was 3:43 into the 3rd from Jaden Schwartz assisted by Vladimir Tarasenko and Jori Lehtera. Jake Allen stopped all 27 shots thrown his way and was the first star, Budaj stopped 24 of 25, picked up the loss but was the 3rd star while Schwartz with his only goal was the 2nd star.

Kings 0 @ Blackhawks 3.

Jonathan Toews from Brian Campbell and Nick Schmaltz on the power play at 6:54 of the first, Artem Anisimov from Artemi Panarin and Marian Hossa at 13:30 of the 2nd, and Hossa from Towes on the power play into the empty net at 18:50 of the 3rd were the 3 goals of the game as the Kings were blanked for the 2nd straight night. Ducks 4 @ Kings 0.

Welp, Budaj tried to pull the wool over our eyes for a couple of games last week, and tried to prove he wasn't as completely useless as we thought he was, but that's come crashing down with a thud here. Though, hard to win games when you can't put the puck in the back of the net! Even with Quick in goal, it's pretty difficult to win games when you can't score, but at least with Quick between the pipes, you could count on him pulling a shutout too, so then you'd take your chances of the 3 on 3 overtime or shootout, but at the least steal the losers point, but with Budaj and Zatkoff, and whoever else they have, unfortunately they can't count on that luxury. If Quick doesn't return by New Years, I don't see much hope for this team this year, but hopefully I get proven wrong. And my East team (Isles) have sucked so far this year too so my NHL season has started out GREAT this year! Rickard Rakell got the Ducks on the board with 31 seconds to play in the first from Ryan Kesler, Antoine Vermette on the power play from Rackell and Corey Perry at 2:49 of the 2nd, Kesler from Ryan Getzlaf and Perry at 3:20 on the power play, and Joseph Cramarossa from Rakell and Vermette at 10:46 were the 4 goals. John Gibson recorded the 3rd straight shutout of the Kings as he stopped all 30 shots his way while Buadj stopped a dismal 12 of 16. The Ducks only recorded 21 shots on the goal for the entire game yet recorded 4 goals. That is abysmal . Rakell was the first start with 3 points (1 goal), Kesler had 2 points (1 goal), and Gibson had 30 saves for the 3rd star.

Ducks were back in action Wednesday night at home when they hosted the Penguins and got squashed 5-1, and the Pens will be in the Staples Center Thursday night for a 10:38 puck drop.

Penguins 2 @ Kings 3 (overtime).

Can this team EVER win in regulation?? This coming Wednesday will mark exactly 4 weeks since the regular season has begun, and they have recorded exactly 0 regulation wins. I guess this makes up from 14-15 when it seemed like they had 10+ regulation/shootout losses. Sidney Crosby scored the only goal of the first assisted by Patric Hornquist and Kris Letang at 7:28. Trevor Lewis has the only goal of the 2nd assisted by Klye Clifford and Martinez at 5:25. Matt Greene put the Kings up 2-1 at 2:14 of the 3rd assisted by Carter, before Crosby tied it at 9:28 assisted by Letang. Dowd scored the winner 2:37 into overtime from Martinez & Pearson. Budaj stopped 21 of 23 shots by Pittsburgh while Marc Andre Fleury stopped 24 of 27 shots by the Kings. Dowd was the first start with his OT winner, Martinez was the 2nd star with 2 assists, while Crosby picked up the 3rd star with 2 goals.

Both teams return to the ice Saturday evening in California. The Penguins take a venture into the Shark tank to take on the Sharks, while the Kings will host the Flames @ Staples with puck drop scheduled around 10:08.

6-6! 7express, I'd love some commentary because I just don't believe in this team...but it's getting better.

Flames 0 @ Kings 5.

Carter from King with 59 seconds remaining in the first and than 45 seconds later with only 14 seconds remaining in the period Setoguchi (his first goal with the Kings) from Dowd & Brown put them up 2-0 after 1. Clifford from Shore at 8:11 and Setoguchi from Brown again at 16:09 put them up 4-0 after 2, and Lewis from Doughty 1:12 into the 3rd was the final tally. Brian Elliot stopped 34 of 39 shots while Budaj stopped all 24 Flames shots for his first shut out of the year. Setoguichi was the first star he scored 2 goals, Brown was the 2nd star he assisted on both Setoguchi goals, and Budaj with his 24 shot shutout was the 3rd star.

Flames stay in Southern California and play Sunday night, in about 30 minutes as they head to Anaheim to take on the Ducks. Kings will head east for a 5 game road trip which begins Tuesday in Toronto with faceoff around 7:38.

I said this last week: If Quick isn't back by New Years I don't see them doing much this year. Budaj is NOT a good option. If you have to count on Budaj to start 25+ games for your team in 2016, chances are your not going to do very well. The Kings are headed down that road.

Kings 7 @ Toronto 0.

LOL poor Toronto! Brown from Dowd at 13:53 was the only goal of the first. They put 4 on the board in the 2nd: Pearson from Kopi and Kevin Gravel at 3:23, Toffoli from Doughty and Derek Forbort, Carter from King & Greene at 13:33, and Carter from Toffoli & Forbort at 18:13. The final 2 came in the 3rd period the first at 15:59 Clifford from Forbort, and the 2nd and 7th from King assisted by Lewis & Muzzin. Budaj stopped all 19 shots put on net while Frederik Anderson started for the Leafs stopping only 22 of 26 shots, and old friend Jhonas Enroth didn't fair much better in relief allowing 3 goals on 17 shots. Carter was the first star with 2 goals, Toffoli second star with 1 goal and 1 assist, Budaj 3rd star with 19 saves. 19 saves doesn't seem like much to warrant a 3rd star, I would've given that 3rd star to Forbort with 3 assists.

Kings continue the trip through Canada with a stop in Montreal, Quebec to take on the Habs. Face off from the Bell Centre will be around 7:38 Thursday evening. Leafs next play Friday vs. the Flyers.

Kings 1 @ Canadiens 4.

Paul Byron from Alexander Radulov and Alexei Emelin at 7:48 and Daniel Carr from Andrei Markov and Torrey Mitchell at 13:53 put the Habs up 2-0 after 1. Phillip Danault from Jeff Petry and Max Pacioretty at 9:37 was the only goal of the 2nd and put the Habs up 3-0. Toffoli from Kopi & Carter on the power play at 11:57 put the Kings on the board before Alex Galchenyuk from Nathan Beaulieu and Pacioretty at 18:11 concluded the scoring. Budaj allowed 19 goals on 22 shots while Carey Price stopped 23 of 24 Kings shots on goal. Dannault was the first star with 1 goal, Price the 2nd star with 23 saves, and Petry was the 3rd star with 1 assist.

Montreal is next in action Saturday when they host the Red Wings, while the Kings will take the quick trip from Quebec back to Ontario to face off with the Senators in Ottawa Friday evening. Puck drop will be around 7:38.

And of course Budaj comes in for the 3rd & he gives up the 2 goals. Who's playing in goal for the Ontario Reign (AHL team)?? I don't think any of them could be any worse than Budaj is.
