I like Totems; think it's a cool regional name. I used to like the old Seahawks logo, that was in the style of a Pacific Northwest carving..
Totems will probably be passed over, out of fear that it's a form of cultural appropriation.. Cultural~Marxist critics of American Indian mascots don't/won't grasp that these team names/concepts are chosen out of reverence, not ridicule. It is what it is..
Here in the real world - as opposed to your world of make-believe where 'Seattle Totems' is beyond the pale - there is a team that goes by that name: a junior hockey team in the WSHL.
Metropolitans harkens back to 1915 when Seattle was the OG with that name. By modern standards that name is lackluster, but all of the others listed are equal amounts of boondoggle.

That's funny.. you're suggesting that Jr. hockey league receives the same attention, crtitique, & scrutiny as a potential NHL team.
You didn't grasp my point, I'm okay with Totems. But NHL (along with other pro leagues) will currently avoid creating new franchises w/American Indian imagery, to avoid potential (& synthetic) outrage.
If Seattle chooses a name with an Indian theme, I'll concede I was wrong. But I'm projecting it'll be a name with no potential ethnic connotation.. peace.
