Welcome, dkf!

Guys are at home to face Columbus tomorrow night. Not sure who'll start in net......Oz will have had 3 days of rest after his awesome performance in Minny. Many are saying Pavel Datsyuk is the best player in the NHL right now, although I've thought that for a while. Judging from the all star balloting results, it's quite obvious that the majority of people casting votes have no idea what a complete hockey player is, seeing as how no Red Wings made the starting lineup for the Western team. I guess rock solid, fundamentally brilliant two way players like Dats, Zetterberg, Hossa, Homer, Mule, and Lidstrom just aren't cool and hip enough in today's NHL. Another by-product of neophyte fans stuffing the boxes for guys like Crosby because they keep seeing them in commercials no doubt. Bettman's NHL........*sheesh*

Datshad a great game last night. I liked the way his teammates congratulated him for the kick pass to set up the final goal.

Datsyuk is ruling the league right now. He's not only playing on another level, he's really enjoying himself as if he were a little kid! The guy is a titan on any section of the ice.

That Mason kid for Columbus is the real deal. His fundamentals are excellent and he moves post to post with amazing ease for a guy that big. Got a feeling we're gonna see some great battles between the Wings and that guy, possibly for years to come.

Nice to see Hossa net one lastnight, also, as he had been scuffling a bit. I lived in Atlanta when he played there, and as good as he is, he does tend to be a bit streaky when it comes to goal scoring. Fortunately, he's a complete hockey player that contributes on both ends and special teams, unlike a lot of other goal scorers that sit back and cherry pick.

What else can you say about Ty Conklin right now? He was awesome lastnight. When the Red Wings bring someone in from outside the organization, that particular guy knows that he's going to be expected to perform at the level of a championship team, and that's exactly what Conklin has done this year. Is he going to win the Vezina? Well, no, but my point is that he is doing what the Wings signed him to do - split time with Osgood and keep the team in the game when he's in net. Great Job, Conks. I'm feelin pretty good about our goalie one-two right now.

Nick Lidstrom and Datsyuk were the only 2 Wings named to the all star team this year, and niether is starting. Whatever........I'm not going to waste time talking about people who stuff the ballot boxes because they think the players look cute in their tv ads. Oops, I just did! Maybe winning the Cup for the 5th time in 12 years will convince people that we have some pretty damn good hockey players in Detroit. Nah, probably not.

Dallas up next. We owe them one, as they took it to us pretty good a few weeks back. Ozzie will start in goal. LET'S GO WINGS!

Another Wings fan here. I was born and raised in Michigan, but my family was all about football. I started paying attention to the Wings in the early '90s, when they started winning. Then I met my wife, who's from the metro Detroit area (Livonia), and she was a HUGE Wings fan. Now we watch all the games together. And we're going to our first Wings game as a couple in just a few weeks, when they come to D.C. to play the Caps! I can't wait! She's been to lots of games at the Joe, but this will be my first time seeing them in person!

Ridiculous, but not surprising, since the NHL promotes everyone but the Wings, it seems. That pretty boy Crosby seems to be the league's poster boy right now. Whatever. Get back to me when he's won something!

That's OK, though. I like how the Wings just keep silently dominating the league. Ignore them at your own peril!
