Absolutely!

And that is my point.

You don't hear people calling them bandwagon fans because of that.

Hockey fans are a strange breed....

Instead of being happy that NEW fans of the game are being created, they put them down. Instead of hailing the superstars of the game, people want to put them down. I thought the whole idea was to expand the game's attraction, so this attitude seems counter-productive.

Congrats to the hawks for finishing up this formality - Philly made a good run and really benefited from a touch of magic from montreal ......... in reality they are pretty much nashville - they battled hard, but just aren't good enough

The fan base here in San Jose have been very loyal... I don't they've been fair weather fans over the years. A lot of that loyalty I think is due to the fact that they are the 'San Jose' Sharks instead of the California Sharks, Bay Area Sharks or something along those lines.

What Mr. Opinion said. I just can't bring myself to type it.

Congrats! And enjoy.

Exactly - taking away the cow palace years the sharks have averaged under 16,000 fans once (15,836 in 03-04) ..... Three years with attendance averages in the 16,593 - 16,994 range ..... 12 years with attendance averages of 17,000 + .......... all but 2 of those years they exceeded the league average in attendance

yeah and that 03-04 season when they posted their worst attendance in tank history - how did the team perform? .... they made the WCF and put up 104 regular season points - so I don't think the attendance was related to performance - probably more of a layover from the tech bubble bursting (3 of their 5 worst attendance years came between the start of the 2001 season and the end of the 2006 season when the team wasn't exactly poor in quality - although even their worst years aren't that bad)

The attendance capacity at the tank is officially 17,562 - no doubt the attendance averages would be even larger if they had a couple thousand seats of extra capacity

Yeah.....now there's nothing at all to do until the first puck drops.

But, be careful what you wish for....

Come October, the Hawks will be the defending champs and every single team you play will be bringing their A game just for the bragging rights to say they beat the champs.

It's like wearing a target on your backs instead of numbers.

I guess the only way you could say this is if you were sour your team didn't make it. Two OT games, 1 goal games, huge hits and crazy fan bases. Not sure what wasn't to love.

I agree. This year's finals were pretty intense. It's hard to imagine how someone who calls himself a hockey fan wouldn't have been entertained. Plus the home atmosphere at both arenas was intense. It's not like this was Anaheim and Tampa in the finals.
