Greetings,

I'm at a bit of a standstill with my room design. Lots of ideas, but more questions...frustration is beginning to settling in.

I'd ideally like my room to serve as two parts, one a bedroom area, and the other a work space. For the lower level (see pictures below) I'm aiming for a dark-deep Gothic/Victorian style, and for the upper level more of a Eastern flare. Current dilemmas:

1.) Multiple rug rule? As seen, I do have a small shag under the drum set, but I'm looking for something more grand. I ran across two rugs that are quite a bit bigger, 4x6, which would come to the edge of the stage/platform and a little past the door. Is there a multiple rug rule? Already having a rug at the foot of my bed, would another busy pattern rug be problematic? As said above, I am trying to try to create an illusion of two separate spaces..(but the room is only of a medium side, 12x20). I have seen many music videos where there are 10-12 different Persian rugs on stage, but does that look differ from a bedroom?

2.) Bedding - Not digging the white, it's a been a bit of a filler, how would this look?

Again, busy, with my busy rug, and perhaps another busy rug...too busy? Should I just go for a solid red comforter?

3.) Curtains - I figure with the red wall, I'd get some nice thick deep solid red velvet ones, but my friend said a golden brown would look better...if the comforter above is too busy and I go with a solid red one, would solid red curtains on top of that be too much red?

..."and more" - What am I missing? Obviously proper curtains, bedding and an additional rug will add lots of flavor, I still fear the room may lack POP. What could I add or drop to the room to make it more Gothic/Victorian/Eastern/HGTVish?

Many thanks,
Drew
