Try the Domestications catalogue, Lands End as another poster has suggested and of course the Vermont Country store.

Restoration Hardware has super nice sheets, but at a premium.

Ordered an organic cotton duvet cover online which turned out to be "sateen". It was my oversight when reading the description as I never would have ordered it. Just the description of sateen made me realize that these are not my preference in bedding. I was willing to give it a try since returning them would have cost me a shipping and a restocking fee. Couldn't even touch the cover with my hands let alone sleep under it. Actually gives me goosebumps to run my hands over the fabric. It also felt as if it would hold the cold and never feel cozy. I bit the bullet and sent it back...to heck with the extra charges, I would never use this cover. With a bit more research I finally found an online company that sold what I was looking for. 100% organic cotton percale and I called them to be sure that it was defintley not sateen. I love this duvet cover...soft yet a bit crisp and so cozy. They also sell sheets and other linens.

Wink Love Bamboo Sheets!

I'm a big fan of bamboo sheets as well. They're the softest sheets I've found, and I've tried a lot of different materials. It's hard to find bamboo sheets in most retail stores, but you can order them online. Egyptian cotton sheets are probably my second favorite, but you have to be sure to buy 100% Egyptian cotton. Some claim to be Egyptian cotton when they're only 2% Egyptian cotton.

Old thread but yes, I agree. It's not super difficult to find non-sateen sheets I guess, a little more difficult if you want to feel them first as I insist upon now. But what's difficult usually is to find sheets that aren't too slick and don't cost a fortune. I don't really want to spend a ton; I wash the sheets in hot water to kill dust mites so I'm figuring they're not going to last 20 years, and really, do I want to use the same ones 20 years from now? I can still get reasonable use, several years out of fairly cheap sheets. I don't care about thread so much as the texture, and a couple of my favorites have actually had some poly in them.

Finally got some new ones recently at Target. The Thomas O'Brien percale sets are pretty good, not too expensive. Thread count is 325. The other set I got there is their Organic Cotton. This is a little softer, less crisp (I like crisp) than the O'Brien but still usable to me and not especially slick/sateen feeling.

I think, I hope, that the sateen craze is fading a bit.

I went in search of percale after getting fed up with clammy sateen sheets. I ended up purchasing a set from Bed, Bath and Beyond. They are wonderfully crisp and light. The top sheet is extra long, too, if you need to tuck it under a thicker mattress.
