I'd go with an orangy-yellow. It will brighten up the place.

I hope you get the house. The first one is always so much fun. To know that it is yours (and the bank's) sets the endorphins free and doing what you want with it is such a delight.

Take your time with it and remember that if you pick the wrong color you can always change it.

I'd go with an off-white...neutralize it while you adapt to your new surroundings. Once you've lived there a while you will know better what color you want to paint it.

I lived in my house for a year before I painted the kitchen. I did paint the kitchen before moving in but it was only to cover the stencils that were on the already-white walls, so I painted the whole room white. In July I repainted the kitchen in a nice lemony-yellow which went well with the green countertops and the 50s cabinets.
