You could probably get a handyman to build one for you for less than $1,000.

What is your location?

What about this?
Walmart.com: South Shore Full Platform Bed and Molding, Black: Furniture
Black South Shore Full/Queen Platform Bed - Walmart.com
Platform Bed - Oak (Double) : Target
Headboards, Bed Frames, Bed Headboards & Wooden Bed Frames | west elm

http://www.platformbedshowroom.com/I...tfield=P_price

Also, when you find what you like, try to compare the prices online.
check this:

versus this:

I think that a nice looking contemporary bed will cost you about $1000 and more...

Wow some great links there thank you very much!

As usual the ones I like seem to start at 1300.
I guess thats just what they go for so I am going to have to bite the money or move on to another idea.

I really like the beds from "True Contemporary" now as well, thanks for showing me those.
At least I now have two companies to choose from, who knows, maybe with a lil patience I can catch one of them having a great after Christmas sale...
