Yep, that's my thing.

Unfortunately, it is so hard to find anything that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Anyone know where I can find some at a reasonable price?

BTW, I know a lot of people use cottage style and shabby chic interchangeably. This is not the case. I'm looking for clean lines, beadboard, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Pottery Barn although not sure of the quality. I personally love PB but have not bought any furniture from them due to the prices. Ethan Allen has a line I believe as well. Again, high prices. Not sure what your budget is. Value City Furniture had a cottage line the last time I went in there but their stuff is not the highest quality.

Fallingwater - give us some pictures of the kind of cottage you are talking about becaue there are all kinds - English, French, Country. I consider my house Cottagy even though I have more formal tastes. I have antiques mixed with newer pieces, stacks of old books, very old landscape paintings, etchings, prints, a few pieces of well-chose antique china on display, old silver, plush pillows, no flowery stuff at all though. Although I adore painted furniture, there is none on the main floor of the house where we spend most of our time. I have some painted old barley twist tables in my bedroom but that is about it...I love wood - mahogany and cherry especially....yet I think my house has a bit of cottage to it.

So, please a few pictures and description would help and let us know what style cottage you love.

Here are some suggestions to the OP (below). I agree Cattknap there are many styles and it seems to me that styles are pretty much inter changeable unless it is stark modern. From the picture you posted, IMO your style seems more english traditional. I love your china cabinet! I think paint colors can change the whole look as well. I like to mix a variety of things but still keep it somewhat cohesive if possible. I have had people visit my home and on their second visit point out things that they thought were new. When you have a fun and interesting decor it keeps em guessing.

Here are some suggestions on figuring out what style of cottage the OP wants to go. I have found some great buys at IKEA. I did my guest bedroom in a cottage style and I purchased a lot of the furniture at at IKEA. (I wish I could just drop and drag the pics )

Value City Furniture: Factory Direct Furniture - Living Room - Plantation Cove

Generic Application Error Test JSP (Item)

Living Room, Bedroom, Dining Room & Home Furniture | Rooms To Go

IKEA | Beds | Full, Queen and King beds | LEIRVIK | Bed frame

IKEA | Beds | Full, Queen and King beds | LILLESAND | Bed frame

IKEA | Beds | Full, Queen and King beds | EDLAND | Four-poster bed frame (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89861543 - broken link)

To the OP - Here is a photo from our California house - looking from the living room into the dining room. The old Ethan Allen Chair has been reupholstered twice since I bougt it new on sale years ago. The little black, inlaid mother of pearl table next to the chair I bought for $99 at an antique store, the floral picture at a close out sale. The platter was expensive and is very old - the sideboard was $300 and I refreshed the wood - the dining chair I reupholstered and I bought a set at HomeGoods ($99 each) made by Lane - they were very nice chairs. I think that a mix of interesting homey items are at the heart of any cottage. Hope you find your style!

That whole house was a sort of controlled ecletic mix but somehow it all worked and was very cotagey and cohesive.

I lovelovelove that house, and all the wonderful things in it, but I think I have told you that before, lol
That house is a classic cottage look, because of the "controlled mix".

LOVE your decor...very English country manor! Lots of very charming touches. Love the collage of antique framed prints on the wall
