I love all kinds of classic furniture.
Me too, I bet your house is amazing!

Love Venitian mirrors! That one is a beauty!
I'm a sucker for a beautiful mirror.
My house is dim, so I have a lot of them to throw light....pain in the rear to keep clean, but I love them!

You wouldn't mind a little drool on that Noguchi would you? LOL

I'm impressed, I would be slack-jawed in your house. You define classic good taste.

LOL! We've been "collecting" it for many years. Got a little "edge" as hubby is an Architect and has had invites to the Herman Miller factory in Zeeland, MI.

Recently, drove up to Artemide in Farmingdale, NY, for their warehouse sale, and picked up 2 Arpasia floor lamps for $175.00

I ran out of there like the lady on the Ikea commercial! Get the car, get the car!

I am a lighting junkie

Hmmm.... let me guess- not too many billowy, complex floral curtains and drapes covering all the windows in your house either? haha

Good lighting- both the amount and well designed, beautiful fixtures really are paramount in completing a good design, most folks leave that to the end and I always try to get my clients to budget a minimum of 10% right off the bat just to keep it in their minds. And as you know there are so many ugly-ass lighting fixtures out there it really takes a good eye to chose some nice ones.

Yours sounds like a sweet place to me!

Lighting is the first thing I address after the floor plan and furniture have been decided on.
Its one of those things that you have 1 chance to get right.
And you're right about ugly fixtures, lol!
My mom would point out all the ugly lighting in front windows of homes we drove by when I was a child in the 60s, my dad eventually referred to her comments as the "ugly lamp contest".

The house is a 1960's split, 2300 sq ft. The rooms are small and I think this style of furniture fits pretty well. Too much elaborate, ornate furnishings (which I love too) would overwhelm the rooms.

This is the den (off the kitchen) where we spend most of our time.

Fabulous, wonderful stuff!!!!
And you are right, big ornate furniture would have swallowed up the rooms, negative space is always important, makes it possible to see and enjoy the objects.
