Just bought a beautiful dark brown leather couch, it's great. Now I need to fill my room with some other stuff.

I need a Chair now.
Main Question, Chair - Get the same version as the couch, or get something completely different, thinner, different color, something that compliments the couch, rather than matches?

wall color - light blue/gry
floor - light wood squares
coffee table - light wood, same as floors

I was thinking maybe a blue or charcoal color? Or should I get matching dark brown leather like the couch?

I need a rug now.
Simple beige color? I don't want the room to be too dark...

What do you think?

I can upload pictures...if someone can tell me where to upload them to...

What look are you going for?

If you've got a brown leather couch and you add a matching chair your room is going to look heavy and masculine. If you do that you really should consider adding a rug with color to it.. like something with blue/grays and browns, and then get some throw pillows for the couch in a similar color.

I would vote for the matching chair (so long as it's part of the same set). If it's just another brown leather chair, I don't think it would look good, and would suggest you get a chair that departs aesthetically from the couch.

As for the rug, beige is nice, but are you going to be doing any eating/drinking over it?.. Stains will probably show up pretty quick on that, I might suggest a rug with some mild colors, or one that has a "salt and pepper" like design.

I would not get the chair that matches your couch - how boring is that? When you have a dark leather couch, you need to add some fabric and a bit of lightness to the room. I would choose something like this - it is masculine, modern, goes well with gray and brown and will give your room some pizazz. You can then accent with a pillow or two on your couch - print pillows that contain that same color as the chair....here is the chair

I would ditch your current coffee table - get something more masculine - the light wood is not something I would do - you need contrast with the floor and something that repeats the darkness of your couch but that also lightens the area up a bit - to me the perfect coffee table would be a big glass coffee table with a dark iron or metal frame - the glass would be interesting in the room and the metal frame would be a good addition to the mix of leather, fabric, glass in the room - mix it up - your room will be much more appealing.

A comfortable chair is a wingback, they come in all styles, get it in a soft fabric, a little lighter shade than couch (altho your charcoal and blue ideas are fine), and try to get similar legs as couch and perhaps similar arms. Doesn't have to be wingback, just one I like. Shop in the same store where you got the couch or in a store where you particularly like the furniture styles in there.

Get a large area rug with a colorful design or you can just go for oriental-type rugs. Oriental rugs, the newer ones are cheaper, and they give instant sophistication to a room. As for colors, it should have some of the colors of your room in it. Keep in mind since your floor is light wood, a rug with some dark in it won't hurt. Of course, if your "gray" walls are dark, then the main color of the rug should be a lighter color, so your room won't be too dark, as you suggested.

You can choose a color from that rug to be your acccent color, to put a throw on your couch in that color, for example. Or if you wind up with, say, a blue velvet chair, that can also be an accent color. Or if you get a solid-colored light rug, an accent can just be any color you like or that most of your art/decor matches.
