I am trying to paint my living room and am having a hard time figuring out what to do with a wall that runs from the living room into the kitchen. Should I paint it the same color as the living room and keep that color running into the kitchen or vice-versa or should I paint it a third color that works with both the living room and the kitchen? Thanks

I have that issue but the wall in my kitchen has a sliding glass door in it. I hung a hugh curtain rod above the slider and put a window treatment on it. It somewhat diguises the change between the wall paint color in the living room vs the kitchen.

Maybe pick colors that are complimentary or from the same color card. Pick one for the kitchen and one for the living room. That way they won't clash and it will work.

If you want to draw attention to this common wall then it should be a bold, unifying colour that goes well with both rooms.

If you want to downplay this wall use a softer, more neutral colour that goes well with both rooms.

This should be different than the main colour of either room.

A better solution, like molding, would require knowing what's opposite this wall and how it's laid-out...a posted floor plan sketch.
