Hello

Looking for potential recommendations for a lamp with a glass base -- either vase shape or a thinner profile. I've seem ones where the cord dangles freely inside and you can see it -- not really fond of that look. So instead, looking for a lamp where the cord is cleanly housed inside a shaft in the center of the lamp. Any leads are appreciated

I was going to suggest Home Goods and any nearby thrift and consignment stores.

I like glass lamps myself but not really fond of the cord inside it either. I bought one from IKEA that was on the list Elnina provided but it is very small and takes an odd light bulb. IKEA sells the bulb but the closest IKEA is 2 hrs away so its not practical for me to go there and just buy the bulbs. I did find ones at the local store that fit but its actually an appliance bulb. Looks like the one from West Elm is rather nice but then I have found some companies photoshop the cord out of the pics so when you get the lamp, the cord is inside the glass.

Wow, what a great and generous list. Thanks! Was actually just checking out the IKEA ones. And also saw Crystal ones today with fairly modern lines at Pottery Barn with the cord in a nickel cylinder down the middle. Thanks for the ideas!

Falling, good point on the West Elm one, looks nice but bet it was photoshopped out.

I hate to shop in stores, so the first place I look for a decor item is Overstock.com.

Here are some of their lamps that seem close to what you describe:

Crystal Rectangle Column Table Lamp | Overstock.com

Crystal Column Table Lamp | Overstock.com

Crystal SpheresTable Lamp | Overstock.com

Crystal Oval Table Lamp | Overstock.com

You can search for lighting in Overstock's home and garden section. Their search engine allows you to choose the type of lighting you seek and you can specify a material such as glass. Most of these selections have good customer reviews. Overall, I've been more than happy with things I've purchased for my home from Overstock and I especially like their inexpensive shipping. It's never more than $2.95 and sometimes free. I bought a chandelier for my dining room from them and had I bought it elsewhere the shipping would have been more than I paid for the chandelier.

I've also been happy with lighting purchases I've made from LampsPlus.com. They're a reputable online dealer. I've purchased lamps and kitchen lighting from them. They also have multiple retail outlets in seven western states, so they move a ton of merchandise and have a lot of sales.
