Default I need YOUR ideas!

I'm not even sure what these areas are called, but I would LOVE your ideas on how to decorate there! I have vaulted ceilings in my foyer & living room area - there are "spaces" up there that are over looking the foyer and living room. These "spaces" have outlets that I can control with a light switch below. Attached are some pics...

Dust magnets! is what I would call them. But seeing as they have an outlet and you have to live with them, what about one of the small decorative lights. I have seen small stained glass animals that are actual lamps that might be interesting up there. Not my cup of tea to climb and dust but.....

I hate those niches also.

I would put up maybe one cool object like a large vase or something, but I beg you not to clutter it up with a roomful of random meaningless items.

For example, I think this is WAY too much stuff for one ledge:

And this!! WHY have a desk and chair up there? Makes no sense!

I know these don't match your space, but are for demonstration purposes only.

Every space doesn't HAVE to be filled.

Actually, Wmsn4Life, those are more interesting and creative than what I see around here. Here, everyone just puts in fake greenery, dusty, fake greenery.

Yeah, we have a ton of fake greenery here too. I think sellers should be required to remove at least one fake plant from each room before listing their homes.

I actually think those are kind of cool! Very creative and something for visitors to look at.
I wouldn't want to dust up there that's for sure!

I'm not sure of their "magnetic" properties-
Around here they're called, dust bunny farms!

i think they can just be sealed up with sheet rock and make them disappaer. Just continue up the wall with the sheet rock.

I find these niches a PITA, they have to be painted, cleaned and most times have a nik-nak or something on them as to do something with the space and then that requires cleaning and the space is too awkward to clean, like who wants to be bothered cleaning up there anyway.

I say, seal it up with sheet rock, and call it a day.
