Just add some great rugs to break up all the wood, I like the color it is the same as my floors and I agree with everyone else they do not show dirt, dust etc. My daughter has the dark wood floors and when I visit I am constantly cleaning her floors.

Dark floors will make the rooms feel smaller.

Myth!
Dark floors with light colored walls can make a room appear larger just like light colored floors and darker walls. The "appearance" has a lot to do with lighting- both natural and artificial. Finding the right combination of all four is the secret of success.

You know I say this with love,

but I don't agree with that.

before my floors were a light gray, ( think circa 1995), but after so many years they wore away so I had the refinished in the dark jacobean color. The rooms didn't look smaller. It just gave it a different look.

Also, ( and i hope Kshe99, will agree with me on this one) but it is better to have a room be small with personality and interest, than to just have a big room.

Leave them natural. You can break up the space with a few rugs. My parents redid their kitchen in dark wood floors and after only 2 years my mom hates them. They show all the dirt and anything dropped leaves an instant, noticable mark.
