Hi everyone, I want to hire a professional to do a pair of stationary draperies for my 20 feet high ceiling, and I'm thinking of having 100% polyester fabric for the drapes since it's less expensive yet still have the elegant look. Does anyone know how much it will cost me?

Thanks.

Nope.

Fabric prices vary plenty. It will depend on what you choose and what the seamstress charges.

I have no problem sew the drapes myself which will save me money. Then have a professional to hang up the two stationary draperies in my living on the 20 feet high windows. My windows have a heptagon shapes on the corners which makes it tricky thus I don't want to hire a handyman, and on top of that my windows are so tall that I want to be sure and safe by hiring a specialist. I'd really appreciate if anyone could help me finding one - I'm the Austin/Lakeway area.

Or I should just have a company do everything for me for $1000, is that a lot?

Thanks.

Yes, that's a lot. For that amount one could buy a low end sewing machine (to be used for years) and a decent material for a DIY project. Hanging them (and rods) shouldn't cost more than 30 mins @ $50.

Number one, by your statement the windows are tricky due to the shapes that is why a handyman can't do it. Without seeing what you are speaking about we can't judge how difficult it will or won't be but hanging two stationary drapes doesn't seem all that difficult to me. Again, sight unseen.

Number two, we really can't say how much a pro would charge to simply hang them for you. Why not call a few local window treatment places and ask?

Re $1000 for the whole job, the prices of fabric vary from cheap to expensive and again, we don't know what that dollar amount is going to buy you fabric wise that we can back out the cost of the professional hanging. The bare minimum length you will need to create a pocket for the rod and to hem them is 7 yards per window. You don't say how full you need/want them to be so that is an unknown also, therefore we can't say what the cost of the fabric would be.

Why not ask if you buy the fabric what will it cost to have them made and hung? It may or may not be cheaper to go that route. It is hard to say not knowing the individual area you live in what this will cost in total.

Um, sorry, but that is not a lot for a professional to make them, along with the cost of the fabric.

I'll post some pictures of my windows. Meanwhile, the fabric I want is polyester type that looks like silk, and I did ask the company about providing the fabric and have them made and hung but they stop doing that over a year now. Now I'm looking for someone to just hang up the drapes for me since I can sew the drapes myself. Though I am not sure where to look for that kind of service of just putting up the drapes for me.

I think $1000 is reasonable. I have a much smaller (11ft), formal dining room window that I had a professional make stationary drapes and install the custom rod and it was $750. I splurged on a thick square rod and square rings. So cool looking.
