Default Glidden Paint Commercial

Glidden has a paint commercial that says 97 percent of people who used Glidden said they would use it again.

Really? Because I used Glidden once -- and would never. Granted it was the lowest priced Glidden brand in their line-up, but I can't imagine using Glidden ever again.

I'm a Behr....then Valspar person. I'd even give Dutch Boy a try before I used Glidden again. ALTHOUGH, I must admit I'd probably use Glidden's highest end brand, before I went up in price to Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore.

Also anyone know which paint companies make which designer paints? What are the paint companies that make Martha Stewart, Ralph Lauren, Laura Ashley etc.?

Maybe the fine print may have read:

97% of the satisfied customers we asked said that they would use our product again.

Yeah, really.
The "America's Finest" (made by Glidden) at Home Depot does well too.

In any case it sounds like you're in the other 3% group.
Enjoy the specialness.

I use the speed-coat stuff from the depot which is rumored to be glidden - its worked very well for me, and even covers blood-red & Barney purple in two coats. Since textured walls are normal in this part of the country, I don't see anything covering in one coat, no matter how super-duper it is.

I took bids on whole house interior paint a month ago and two of the professional painters offered on their own that the professional series Glidden offers is very, very good and was reformulated a while back. One of them said it covers much better than Ben Moore, which definitely surprised me.

Our whole house was painted with some high end version of Glidden in ONE coat color-matched to a BM color and it really does look incredible.

I'm getting the impression paints are viewed similarly as cars. Once one gets an opinion it's nearly impossible for them to question it. And, usually, the opinion is ill-formed. For example, "I had a 1974 Toyota Corolla. It was horrible. Toyotas are a lousy car. I'll never buy one again."

I've used Glidden Gripper as a primer to cover 1970s faux dark wood paneling, and it was hands down the best primer I ever used. Their regular paint-not so much.

Glidden Professional (formerly ICI Dulux) is a very high quality, high solids latex paint, and not available at Home Depot. Being involved in high end commercial interiors for many years on the West coast I've done numerous projects where Architects request this paint be used. You must go to a Glidden Professional store to buy it. Lifemaster latex retails for $37.99 a gallon, so make sure and request a discount.

Me, I would leave a wall in Sheetrock before I would use Behr again. I tried it twice and hated it yet I have friend that swear by it like you. What ever works for you, is the best pain t, doctor, contractor etc.
