We are getting mirrors for our 2.5 baths and laundry room. the cabinets in these rooms are all white. Should we choose white frames mirrors go with the cabinet? Should we use the same mirror (size is different) in all rooms? Can you do one with frame and another without frame or with another color frame mirror? What's your suggestion?
You definitely don't have to make each room the same. You can use different cabinets, different colors, different mirrors, whatever you want! You don't have to have everything all matchy-matchy.
We have a single, large frameless mirror in the master bath, and a framed mirror in the guest bath. I'd probably forego the mirror in the laundry room, and use something else instead. Maybe an organizational tool, upper cabinets, shelving, or even artwork, but not a mirror. That is, unless you want to watch yourself doing laundry.
I have a 60" double vanity in my main bathroom (white vanity cabinet, gray speckled granite top). I did not want to give up the idea of a medicine cabinet, but they are so "out" these days. I ended up getting two 15" wide medicine cabinets with beveled mirror front, sides and interior. They definitely don't look cheap, and are hardly noticeable thanks to the mirror. I put one on each side of the cabinet, and an oval decorative mirror in the middle. If you are not getting a medicine cabinet, I agree with those who said don't match the mirror to the cabinet -- that can look kind of cheesy.
The cabinets already there and they are white with creamy marble counter tops. With the toilet and bathtub are all white, we are afraid a dark colored framed mirror will not go well with the rest of the room. We are set for the framed mirror, but not sure do we have to stick with white color frame to match the rest of the room. Have you seen anything with brown/black framed mirror but the cabinets are white and the rest of the bathroom are all white/creamy color?
You don't necessarily have to have a color in the frame. Ours is a rectangular framed mirror with beveled glass, and the frame is also beveled glass. It looks very similar to this, but without the beaded trim. (Also without the Williams-Sonoma price tag; we got it at Lowe's. I don't remember the price, but it was definitely less than $100.)
I like to choose things that seem to be functional and aesthetically pleasing. So, if a big unframed mirror works best in one bath and a framed mirror with a more formal look functions better in another, that's what I'd do.
You might visit some open houses in new subdivisions to see what trends are. You might spot a treatment that you like and want to copy.
I would get something more pretty and decorative in the bath room (like a Venetian mirror). All other rooms can go with a framed wooden mirror too.
